Millimeter MagazineMillimeter Magazine, September 1996.
This issue included an article on PC-based animation platforms and featured many of our COMPUTOONS

At the 1996 Fall COMDEX, Animation Magazine was handing out this version of their December issue, featuring Captain Quazar on the cover. Unfortunately, this cover only appeared at COMDEX. The issue that was distributed nationally instead featured the picture of "Toy Story"movie, which you can see in the lower right-hand corner of the Captain Quazar cover.

In the April 1996 issue of Oregon Screen Monthly, Sandy Sycafoose conducted an interview with Robert Terrell on the use of various software packages in 3D computer animation.

Before the Captain Quazar game was released by 3DO, Video Games magazine did a two-page (48-49) preview of the game. The article featured many pix from the cinematics as well as the 90- second music video. We also provided a number of gameplay villain characters for use on their index page.

Issue # 78 of Electronic Gaming Monthly included a review of 3DO's Captain Quazar videogame. Click on the image below to see a .jpg of the actual full review. (image is 86k). Here are a few excerpts:

  • "I like the cartoony look to it, and I am happy to see some humor in a game of this style" - Mark Lefebvre
  • "It's nice to see this system finally getting some great original titles. Capt. Quazar has good graphics and tight control."
    -
    Andrew Baran
  • "Any game with a cool rap video as the intro has got to
be good. The animations of Capt. Quazar and the enemies
,along with the pleasant music, give this game a cool car-
    toony feel." -
    Mike Desmond
  • "The intro is another original idea with a Quazar-rap and
    comic-style characters." -
    Sushi X

Robert Terrell of COMPUTOONS® comments on the use 3D animation software for the Captain Quazar videogame. An excerpt of the article is included here.

"The overall graphical presentation in Quazar is entirely meant to replicate a cartoon environment and it does a great job of that, combining excellent animation for all characters (especially Quazar himself), massive explosions and a slew of weapons that create incredible devastation."
Intelligent Gamer Online, December 1995.
